Flat World is seeking a smart and enthusiastic Inside Business Development candidate to join our growing team. This team member will play a fundamental role in achieving our ambitious client acquisition and revenue growth objectives by being self-motivated, with the ability to self-govern the expected essential functions.

Knowledge of Domestic and International transportation and Business Development highly desired.

Essential Functions

  • Source new client prospects through inbound lead follow-ups, outbound cold calls, emails, and ongoing networking opportunities with the tenacity to follow up and secure time with targeted decision makers.
  • Set multiple appointments per week (2+) for our business development team.
  • The ability to understand and identify client needs and requirements.
  • Route qualified opportunities to the appropriate sales executives for further development and closure.
  • Data mine, web strip, and isolate target companies that would be fit for our services (requiring computer skills and strategic thinking).
  • Keep abreast of emerging technology changes and innovations through formal or informal study, reading business and professional publications.
  • Work with a variety of the Flat World teams on new projects to ensure customer expectations are communicated.
  • Capitalize on opportunities by working closely with the sales and operations management team to develop creative, workable solutions to client needs.
  • Perform effective online demos to prospects.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with clients and relevant operations staff to evaluate performance and receive updates from clients on challenges and future plans.
  • Develop client relations, including but not limited to sales leads, research, cold calling, qualifying leads, developing leads, and customer service.
  • Execute a sales action plan with objectives and strategies to increase revenue and aggressively acquire new accounts.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience

  • Proven inside business development and sales experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Results-oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general industry documentation/communication.
  • Track record of over-achieving performance metrics.
  • Proficient with corporate productivity and web presentation tools.
  • Experience working with or a similar CRM.
  • Strong listening and presentation skills.
  • Microsoft Office experience: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Desired Qualifications

  • Logistics knowledge base including domestic and international transportation and supply chain management highly recommended.
  • The desire for continuous training and improving on essential functions and skillsets.

Growth Potential

This role is designed as an entry level logistics sales position and will serve as a stepping stone for highly successful employees to an outside sales position within a strategic developing market.
