International Operations Manager

OVERVIEW

Flat World’s International division is seeking a driven and highly motivated Operations Manager to lead out growing team in Elk Grove Village, IL. The international Ops manager should be an excellent self starter who is responsible for recruiting, developing and motivating staff to provide excellent customer service that exceeds our customer’s expectations. This individual should accomplish profitability and growth objectives through ensuring the team has the necessary tools and resources to expand Flat World’s business levels in the international product lines.

International Business Development : Outside Sales

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team to adequately manage all operational activity including import, export, and distribution operations, as well as customer service, local human resources, and support of sales activities including key client relationships.
  • Be fully competent in the company operating system (CargoWise), with a high level of expertise both in the training and supporting team use, as well as ability to step in and operate as operational agent when needed.
  • Promptly identify and address areas of improvement with corrective actions that overcome challenges, result in excellence, and support growth opportunities
  • Ensure processes and metrics are in place to ensure growth, service and profitability and audit regularly to ensure continuous improvement
  • Lead and hold team accountable for key account operations to ensure excellence in service, execution and reliability
  • Build rapport with carriers to develop new business opportunities
  • Address customer and employee satisfaction issues promptly, and in an excellent manner.
  • Ensure carriers are meeting and adhering to the scope of agreed terms and services with Flat World Global Solutions
  • All other tasks that the business deems necessary

Requirements:

  • Five to seven years of international logistics experience, with supervisory experience
  • Minimum one year of operational knowledge of Cargo Wise platform experience preferred
  • Adequate knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • Familiarity with business and financial principles and practices
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • General understanding of diverse business processes and strategy development
  • Working knowledge of forecasting, and metrics
  • Basic IT skills (databases, MS Office etc.)
