Job Description:

Flat World is currently looking for an experienced sales and marketing leader who seeks to flourish in a fast-growing, profitable full-service logistics organization. This role is an integral part of the executive leadership team, who will be overseeing all aspects of sales, marketing, and business development to assist the company in achieving aggressive sales and revenue growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will have excellent sales execution and leadership skills and a proven ability to empower, guide and motivate a sales team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute company Sales and Marketing plans and strategies resulting in securing profitable new business and achieving the company’s sales goals in service offerings of;
    • Domestic Transportation Management
    • Over the Road Brokerage
    • International Freight Forwarding
    • Parcel Services
    • Distribution & Fulfillment Services
    • Custom Crating
  • Lead and mentor the sales team, operations, and resources to deliver profitable growth
  • Oversee key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities
  • Manage understanding of customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Understand key marketing performance metrics and tracking tools to provide market research, forecasts, competitive analysis, and consumer trends in order to identify actionable, effective marketing approaches
  • Effectively recruit, hire and build an industry leading sales, marketing and channel team
  • Forecast, implement, and oversee the sales and marketing department’s operating budget; Evaluate sales team usage of the budget regularly for areas of improvement in potential ROI
  • Define and administer sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets
  • Special projects, travel, and duties as needed

 

Skills / Experience Requirements:

  • 7+ years of managerial experience in sales and marketing management required, preferably in supply chain and/or logistics industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain Management required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Proven history of creating and managing a sales organization structure
  • Knowledge in implementing and leveraging CRM software strategies
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Strong understanding of the alignment between sales and marketing
  • P & L Responsibility / Budgeting experience required
  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling teams
  • Successful experience monitoring and evaluation sales rep progress against stated expectations, in addition to aligning and changing behavior with performance expectations
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed for in person meetings with customers and partners to develop key relationships
  • Proven knowledge of operations management, business, and financial principles
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • This role is domiciled at the O’Fallon MO corporate office 

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • A competitive base salary of approximately $175,000/year, with final compensation determination based on experience and abilities
