At Flat World Holdings, Excellence Means Raising More than $30,000 for Your Community

At the Flat World Holdings family of companies, we are proud of the work we do to improve the visibility, efficiency, and performance of our customers’ supply chains and transportation-management programs.

However, we are just as proud of the work our employees do to make their communities better.

In 2016, Flat World Holdings employees and their families raised more than $10,000 for the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish program. That money helped send one little girl named Natalie to Disney World. The money raised also helped grant another wish to a local child. Later that year our team raised another $10,000 for Grant Me Hope, an organization that uses marketing strategies to help children within the foster-care system find an adoptive family. The organization focuses specifically on children who have experienced challenges finding a permanent home. In 2017, our team was at it again, raising more than $11,000 for the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis.

Our annual fundraiser, known as “Delivering Wishes,” has become an important part of the Flat World Holdings excellence-focused culture. This year we are continuing the tradition by raising money for the Mighty Oakes Heart Foundation.

Founded in 2011 by Becky and Greg Ortyl after the death of their infant son, the organization provides financial support to families coping with the reality of caring for a child born with congenital heart defects. This year’s fundraising effort will feature multiple events, including a Trivia Night on March 27, 2018; a 5k run that is projected to raise more than $10,000; and our traditional Delivering Wishes auction. This year, that event will be held in June at a brand-new venue, The Stone House of St. Charles, Missouri.

(If you are interested in attending, supporting, or sponsoring one of the events mentioned above, please contact Deirdre Guice or Dani Vitale for more information.)

We are incredibly proud of our employees for placing philanthropy and community involvement at the core of what they do. Too often there is an assumption that the health of families, communities, and businesses is unrelated.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Healthy businesses depend on healthy communities. Companies that lose sight of that fact lack the sort of big-picture, long-term vision required to thrive in a competitive industry. That’s why our family of companies believes that excellence as a company includes making our community a better place.

But that isn’t why our employees give their time, money, and creativity to causes and organizations they believe in. They do it because they have big hearts and a desire to make the world a better place. That’s the type of team we have here at Flat World Holdings. That ethic of service and excellence extends across each of our companies, including Flat World Supply Chain, Flat World Hospitality, Ram International, Ram Custom Crating, and Prologue Technology.

In our next blog post, we’ll get back to talking about the issues impacting your supply chain, shipping departments, and transportation-management program. In the meantime, go out and help make your world a better place. It will make your company stronger.

But more importantly, it will make your community better.
